A friend recommended a movie from 2001 - ‘All About Lily Chou-Chou’ (リリイ・シュシュのすべて). I’m not sure if I understood what Shunji Iwai (岩井俊二) wanted to get across, but with the Debussy music blending in with his unusual techniques (like the unsteady Sony 24p digital camera), the movie was rather unique and really thought-provoking.
The music really gets to me. Not that I haven’t heard Debussy’s ‘Clair de Lune’ or ‘Arabesque’ before, even someone as ignorant (in music) as me would know the melody. Combining with the visual impact is, however, a completely different story. The movie reminds me of the first time I saw the animation ‘Neon Genesis Evangelion’, how they combine classical music with, well, madness really.
BBSs must be quite popular in Japan, clearly see that in the example of the famous ‘Densha otoko’ (電車男). Is it really easier for people to talk when they’re not face to face? What will the internet bring us? It’s hardly been around for 50 years, Matrix is hardly fiction.
I think Shunji Iwai has made some breakthroughs, but this isn’t the kind of movie that will get famous, especially with the anomalous story that’s characteristic of the Japanese.
Wish I could see ‘Legend of the Earthsea’ in cinema, won’t be able to see it in HK, hope it’ll be shown here.
You go to my head with a smile that makes my temperature rise
Like a summer with a thousand Julys
You intoxicate my soul with your eyes
Though I’m certain that this heart of mine
Hasn’t a ghost of a chance in this crazy romance
You go to my head
The thrill of the thought that you might give a thought to my plea
Cast a spell over me
Still I say to myself get a hold of yourself
Can’t you see that it never can be
More on the song from previous post - Life on Youtube
Listened to the lyrics in detail, very up lifting.
愛されたい 愛されたいばかり アタシ言っていたよね 求めるだけじゃダメね
希望被愛 希望被愛 總是說著這一句話我說過了只是渴求而不去付出 是不行的
“(I) want to be loved, want to be loved” is what I said, but it’s no use just asking for it.
…
でも 心の中 すべてをとても伝えきれない
カンタンに 生かない から 生きてゆける
可是 心中 的一切仍然無法完全傳達開去
正是由於生活是不簡單的 所以 我才要繼續生存下去
But it’s really hard to express everything that’s in my heart.
It’s because life is challenging that I need to go on living.
…
過ぎてきた日々 全部で今のあたしなんだよ
カンタンに 行かない から 生きてゆける
過去的一切日子 構成了今天的我
正是由於生活是不簡單的 所以 我才要繼續生存下去
I am the person I am today because of the days in the past.
It’s because life is challenging that I need to go on living.
Quoted from “Blogging all over the world”Telegraph
“the vast majority of blogs remain those written by ordinary people about their ordinary lives. The popularity of the medium is surely rooted, above all, in the fact that it allows people to talk about themselves.
Inevitably, this leads to over-supply and under-demand. “Put simply, more people write blogs than read them,” said an IT industry executive yesterday.
This message was reinforced at this year’s digital media-friendly Conservative Party conference, where delegates could send their thoughts to a giant screen via text message and a blogging stand advised attendees on how to get started.
Addressing them, Eric Schmidt, chairman and chief executive of Google, pointed out that “the average blog has one reader: the blogger”.
But one of the beauties of blogs is that this doesn’t seem to matter. Many blogs – wonderfully self-indulgent to a degree that even the most neurotic celebrity might blush at – seem to be written as therapy, under the expectation that if anyone else reads them, hey, that’s just a nice bonus.
Conventional vanity publishing costs money, but setting up a blog is free, not to mention quick and easy.”
